I went to an awesome women's retreat near Helen. GA with one of my favorite peeps and I learned to meditate. If you knew how tight I am wound up you would laugh at the thought, but it actually worked well. I am implementing it into my daily rituals. I would highly recommend the retreat we went to. We had a great time and the take away was some much needed relaxation and tools for coping with the every day stressors etc... I have not done the guided meditation since I have been, but I try to meditate on scriptures that lift me up. One that comes to mind is
Matthew 11:28-30 New International Version (NIV)
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
During the Job years, (I'll explain later lol), I wrote verses on 3x5 index cards and would leave them lying around and I would read them to stay focused on God instead of my troubles. Funny.. I find them hidden in a book or in my car from time to time and it's amazing how it is exactly what I needed to hear. I am beginning to get what they mean by the "living" word.
I have no idea if anyone is reading this or if its helping anyone, but it sure helps me to get my emotions and feelings out. Some what of a cleansing time.
